| 1. June 2003 Heilongjiang Provincial Government made the formal decision on the 12th Governors'
meeting that Harbin would represent Heilongjiang to bid for the 2009 Winter Universiade.
2. March 2004 Provincial Government set up 2009 Winter Universiade bidding office with Governor Zhang Zuoji as its head.
3. April 27, 2004 China's state council approved Harbin to represent Heilongjiang Province to bid for 2009 the XXIV Winter Universiade.
4. May 20, 2004 Heilongjiang delegates, with Federation of University Sports of China, attended the Executive conference in Brussels, the FISU headquarter.
May 22, 2004 "Official Letter of Support" and "Official Guarantee for the Bid of the City of Harbin for 2009 World Winter University Games" were submitted to FISU, which signified the initiation of formal bidding work.
5. May 2005 Preparatory Committee for 2009 Winter Universiade was established. The committee
was composed of China Ministry of Education, China General Administration of Sport, Heilongjiang Provincial Government, Harbin Municipal Government and other related departments.
6. November 2004 The FISU delegation, with the leadership of President George Killian arrived Harbin to launch a first-hand investigation of bidding process.
7. Jan.5th, 2005 Harbin 2009 Winter Universiade Bidding Committee, with Vice Governor Cheng Youdong as its chairman, set off for Austria to make the final bidding battle.
8. Jan.10th, 2005 The FISU President George Killian declared Harbin won the right to host 2009 Winter Universiade. |
